Nourished by the imagery inspired in Jodorowsky by the cult science fiction novel Dune, Douglas Mont is not American but French. A distant great-uncle of his, GL Rispal, founded the Parisian firm Rispal in 1924, specializing in reasonably priced lighting fixtures, which, after flourishing decades and hundreds of catalog items, closed its doors in 1982.
Douglas Mont revived the reproduction of these pieces in 2018 through a redesign of the 1950s bestsellers known as "Formes Nouvelles" (New Forms), augmented by his own contemporary creations. Specializing in modular design in the form of evolving light sculptures for outdoor spaces, and based between the Auvergne and the French Riviera with a presence in Paris, Douglas Mont marks his first collaboration with DCW éditions with "In the Air."
